The Crooked Prince

By Elisha Mlotek

SYNOPSIS

After a robbery-gone-awry results in the death of a wealthy Polish child, tensions rise between Roman Catholics and Jews, and a chain reaction of violence and distrust ripples across Poland’s widespread communities.

The film is set during the Second Polish Republic (or Interwar Poland, 1918-1939), when the independent state, in its infancy, struggled to defend its borders and control growing sentiments of nationalism amidst the multi-ethnic society.

The impetus for writing this script was in reaction to the resurgence of far-right attitudes in Poland and its recent attempts to whitewash the country’s history of anti-Semitism.
