SYNOPSIS

A mathematician struggles to live with her conjoined twin in a world beyond logic.

Imogene is a mathematician at the height of her career. She studies donuts (elliptic curves) and is on the cusp of publishing groundbreaking new research that would radically redefine the field and propel her to win the prestigious Fields Medal. One day, Imogene discovers a rapidly growing tumor in her neck which quickly develops—not into a cancer, but into a fully conscious conjoined twin with the IQ of a mischievous 19-year-old. Doctors name Imogene’s twin “Genie.” Genie develops a mind and personality all her own, which increasingly interferes with Imogene’s important research and eventually, her daily life and ability to think. Imogene loses her job at the university and is forced to work as a fetish model to make ends meet. (She has no other practical skills—her speciality is theoretical mathematics.) The work with Genie becomes more than Imogene bargained for. Imogene becomes desperate and consults Daniel, a young hypnotherapist, who helps reprogram his clients’ circadian rhythms so one is awake while the other is asleep. Will Imogene and Genie find a way to peacefully coexist in the same body? Or can they somehow grow apart and continue to live separate lives?
